حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ، أَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ، أَنَا صَدَقَةُ - يَعْنِي: ابْنَ مُوسَى - عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ;
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ سُئِلَ عَنْ أَفْضَلِ الصِّيَامِ ؟ قَالَ: أَفْضَلُ الصِّيَامِ صِيَامُ شَعْبَانَ تَعْظِيمًا لِرَمَضَانَ، وَأَفْضَلُ الصَّدَقَةِ صَدَقَةٌ فِي رَمَضَانَ

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ was asked about the best fasting. He said, “The best fasting is fasting Shaʿban in honor of Ramadan, and the best charity is charity in Ramadan.”

machine translationAs for the hadith of Thābit from Anas, it is weak (ḍaʿīf), because in its chain is Ṣadaqah b. Mūsā, and there is some criticism of him. Yaḥyā said: "His hadith is worth nothing." Al-Nasāʾī and Abū Dāwūd also graded him weak.
