✧ The Basrans from Anas

وَبِإِسْنَادِهِ ; قَالَ:
كُسِرَتْ ثَنِيَّةُ الرُّبَيِّعِ فَطَلَبُوا إِلَيْهِمْ أَنْ يَعْفُوا فَأَبَوْا عَلَيْهِمْ إِلَّا الْقِصَاصَ، فَقَالَ أَنَسُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَتُكْسَرُ رَبَاعِيَةُ الرُّبَيِّعِ ؟ وَالَّذِي بَعَثَكَ بِالْحَقِّ لَا تُكْسَرُ، فَقَالَ: يَا أَنَسُ كِتَابُ اللهِ الْقِصَاصُ، قَالَ: فَرَضِيَ الْقَوْمُ وَعَفَوْا فَقَالَ: إِنَّ مِنْ عِبَادِ اللهِ مَنْ لَوْ أَقْسَمَ عَلَى اللهِ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى لَأَبَرَّهُ.
Translation
✧ The front tooth of al-Rubayyi' was broken, so they asked them to forgive, but they refused except retaliation. Anas b. al-Nadr said: O Messenger of Allah, will the front tooth of al-Rubayyi' be broken? By the One who sent you with the truth, it will not be broken. He said: O Anas, the Book of Allah ordains retaliation. He said: Then the people were content and forgave. He said: Indeed, among the servants of Allah are those who, if they swear by Allah, Blessed and Exalted, He fulfills it.
