✧ What 'A'ishah narrated from Abu Bakr

حَدَّثَنَا سَلَمَةُ بْنُ شَبِيبٍ، وَالْفَضْلُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ قَالَا: نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ الْمَدَنِيُّ قَالَ: نَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ بِلَالٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْحَكِيمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي فَرْوَةَ، عَنْ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ؓ قَالَتْ:

لَمَّا تُوُفِّيَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ بُكِيَ عَلَيْهِ فَخَرَجَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ؓ، فَقَالَ: إِنِّي أَعْتَذِرُ إِلَيْكُمْ مِنْ شَأْنِ أُولَاءِ إِنَّهُنَّ حَدِيثُ عَهْدٍ بِجَاهِلِيَّةٍ، إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: الْمَيِّتُ يُنْضَحُ عَلَيْهِ الْحَمِيمُ بِبُكَاءِ الْحَيِّ

✧ When Abdullah b. Abi Bakr died and was wept over, Abu Bakr ؓ came out and said: 'I apologize to you regarding the matter of these women, for they are newly out of ignorance. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "The dead is tormented by the weeping of the living."
