✧ Hamran, the freed slave of Uthman

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، قَالَ: نَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، قَالَ: نَا حُرَيْثُ بْنُ السَّائِبِ، قَالَ: نَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَبِي الْحَسَنِ الْبَصْرِيُّ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي حُمْرَانُ بْنُ أَبَانَ، عَنْ عُثْمَانَ: أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ - ﷺ قَالَ:

ثَلَاثٌ لَيْسَ لِابْنِ آدَمَ بَعْدَهُنَّ فَضْلُ جِلْفٍ: هَذَا الطَّعَامُ، وَثَوْبٌ يَسْتُرُهُ، وَبَيْتٌ يُكِنُّهُ، وَمَا كَانَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فَلَيْسَ لِابْنِ آدَمَ فِيهِ فَضْلٌ

✧ There are three things after which a son of Adam has no merit beyond that of a rough bedouin: this food, a garment to cover him, and a house to shelter him. Anything beyond that, a son of Adam has no merit in it.
