Chain of narrators
  1. ʿAbdullāh b. al-Ḥārith al-Marwazī
  2. ʿAbdullāh b. ʿUthmān

✧ My father narrated to me, from Shu‘bah, from Abū Isḥāq, from Abū ‘Abd al-Raḥmān, from ‘Uthmān, from the Prophet ﷺ, similarly. This ḥadīth we do not know is reported from ‘Uthmān except through this channel that we mentioned, unless Yūnus b. Abī Isḥāq differed in its chain and reported it from his father, from Abū Salamah. We have not memorized it except from the ḥadīth of Abū Isḥāq, from Abū ‘Abd al-Raḥmān, and no one reported it from Shu‘bah except ‘Uthmān b. Jabalah.

machine translationAbū Isḥāq al-Sabīʿī narrated it, and there is disagreement about him. Zayd b. Abī Unaysah, Shuʿbah and ʿAbd al-Kabīr b. Dīnār narrated it from Abū Isḥāq, from Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Sulamī. Yūnus b. Abī Isḥāq and Isrāʾīl b. Yūnus differed from them, and narrated it from Abū Isḥāq, from Abū Salamah b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān. The statement of Shuʿbah and those who followed him is closer to the correct view.
