✧ I set out with my brother Khallad to Badr with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a lean camel of ours. When we were at the post station behind al-Rawha', our camel knelt down. We said: 'O Allah, we make a vow to You that if You bring us to Madinah, we will surely slaughter it.' While we were in that state, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by us and said: 'What is the matter with you two?' We told him that it had knelt down on us. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ dismounted, performed ablution, and then spat into his ablution water. Then he ordered us to open the camel's mouth, and he poured some of his ablution water into the young camel's mouth, then onto its head, then onto its neck, then onto its withers, then onto its hump, then onto its hindquarters, then onto its tail. Then he said: 'O Allah, carry Rafi' and Khallad.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went on, and we got up to load. We mounted and caught up with the Prophet ﷺ at the beginning of the midway point, while our young camel was at the front of the caravan. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saw us, he laughed. We continued until we reached Badr. When we were near Badr, it knelt down on us, so we said: 'Praise be to Allah,' and we slaughtered it and gave its meat as charity.
