✧ While the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was in the mosque with people around him, a man came, faced the qiblah, and prayed. When he finished his prayer, he came and greeted the Prophet ﷺ and the people. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: 'And upon you. Go back and pray, for you have not prayed.' So he went back and prayed. Then he came, and we began to observe his prayer. When he completed his prayer, he came and greeted the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and the people. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: 'And upon you. Go back and pray, for you have not prayed.' He repeated this two or three times. The man said: 'O Messenger of Allah, I do not know what you criticize in my prayer, and I have not fallen short.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The prayer of any of you is not complete until he performs ablution thoroughly as Allah commanded him: he washes his hands and face, and his hands to the elbows, wipes his head and his feet to the ankles. Then he says "Allahu akbar" and praises Allah, and recites from the Quran what Allah has permitted him. Then he says "Allahu akbar" and bows, placing his palms on his knees until his joints are at ease and relaxed. Then he says: "Allah hears the one who praises Him," until his back is straight and he stands upright, with every bone in its place. Then he places his face—and I heard him say: "his forehead"—until his joints are at ease and relaxed. Then he says "Allahu akbar" and raises his head until he sits upright on his sitting place and straightens his back. Then he says "Allahu akbar" and prostrates until he places his face firmly and his joints are relaxed and at ease. Then he says "Allahu akbar" and raises. He described it in this way. If he does not do this, his prayer is not complete.'
