✧ A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and complained to him about forgetting the Qur’an. He said: “Teach me something that will suffice me.” He said: “Say: Bismillāh, wal-ḥamdu lillāh, wa lā ilāha illā Allāh, wa Allāhu akbar, wa lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā billāh.” He said: So he counted them on his hand, then closed five fingers and said: “O Messenger of Allah, this is for my Lord, so what is for me?” He said: “Say: Allāhumma ighfir lī, wa-rḥamnī, wa-‘āfinī, wa-rzuqnī, wa-hdinī.” He said: So he counted them on his hand, five, and closed his other fingers. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said: “As for this, he has filled his hands with good.”
