✧ I came to the Messenger of God ﷺ while he was at al-Batha', and he said: For what have you entered ihram? I said: I have entered ihram for what the Messenger of God ﷺ has entered ihram for. He said: 'Have you brought a sacrificial animal?' I said: No. He said: 'Then circumambulate the House and al-Safa and al-Marwa, and then exit ihram.' So I circumambulated the House and al-Safa and al-Marwa, then I went to a woman of my people and she combed my hair. I used to give fatwas to the people during the caliphate of Abu Bakr and the caliphate of 'Umar. While I was speaking in Madinah, a man said: Do you know what the Commander of the Believers has introduced regarding the rites of pilgrimage? I said: O people, whoever we have given a fatwa about something, let him wait, for the Commander of the Believers is coming to you, so follow him. When he arrived, I said: O Commander of the Believers, what is this that you have introduced regarding the rites of pilgrimage? He said: If we follow the Book of God, then God, Mighty and Majestic, said: "And complete the Hajj and 'Umra for God." And if we follow the Sunnah of our Prophet, then the Messenger of God ﷺ did not exit ihram until he had slaughtered the sacrificial animal.
