✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went out one day at noon and found Abu Bakr ؓ sitting in the mosque. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "What brought you out at this hour?" He said, "O Messenger of Allah, what brought you out?" He said, "The same that brought you out." Then 'Umar ؓ came, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O son of al-Khattab, what brought you out at this hour?" He said, "O Messenger of Allah, the same that brought you two out." He sat with them, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ began talking to them. He said to them, "Do you have enough strength to go to this palm grove and get some food and drink?" We said, "Yes, O Messenger of Allah." So we set off until we came to the house of Malik b. al-Tayhan, Abu al-Haytham al-Ansari. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ went ahead of us and asked permission to enter. The mother of Abu al-Haytham heard the greeting and wanted the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to give them more greeting. When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was about to leave, the mother of Abu al-Haytham came out running and said, "O Messenger of Allah, I heard your greeting, but I wanted you to increase your greeting to us." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to her, "Where is Abu al-Haytham?" She said, "He is nearby, O Messenger of Allah; he went to fetch fresh water for us. Enter; he will come soon." She spread a mat for them under a tree, and Abu al-Haytham came with his donkey carrying two water skins. Abu al-Haytham rejoiced at them and brought them refreshment. Then Abu al-Haytham climbed a palm tree and cut down bunches of dates. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "That is enough, O Abu al-Haytham." He said, "O Messenger of Allah, you will eat from its unripe dates and its ripe dates and enjoy them." Then he brought them water, and they drank. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "This is among the blessings about which you will be asked." Then Abu al-Haytham got up to slaughter a sheep, but the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him, "Avoid the one that gives milk." Then Abu al-Haytham stood and kneaded dough for them. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, Abu Bakr, and 'Umar put their heads down and slept. They woke up and found their food ready, and he placed it before them. They ate and were satisfied and praised Allah. Abu al-Haytham brought them the rest of the date bunches, and they ate some of it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said farewell and supplicated for them with good. Then he said to Abu al-Haytham, "When you hear that slaves have come to us, come to us." Abu al-Haytham said: When I heard that slaves had come to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, I went to Madinah, and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave me a slave. I made a contract with him for forty thousand dirhams, and I have never seen a slave with greater blessing than him.
