✧ Whoever kills a believer deliberately, he is handed over to the heirs of the slain. If they wish, they may kill, and if they wish, they may take the blood money. It is thirty hiqqah, thirty jadha'ah, and forty khalifah. That is the blood money for deliberate killing. And whatever they agree upon with him is theirs, and that is the severe blood money. The blood money for quasi-deliberate killing is made heavy like the blood money for deliberate killing, but its perpetrator is not killed. That is when Satan incites among people and blood is shed without malice or carrying weapons. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, meaning: Whoever carries weapons against us is not of us, nor whoever lies in wait on a road. So whoever is killed otherwise, it is quasi-deliberate, and its blood money is heavy, and its perpetrator is not killed. It is in the sacred month, and for the sanctity, and for the neighbor. And whoever is killed by mistake, his blood money is one hundred camels: thirty bint makhad, thirty bint labun, thirty hiqqah, and ten bikarah of male bani labun. He said: And the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to value it for the people of villages at four hundred dinars, or its equivalent in silver. He used to value it according to the prices of camels; if they became expensive, he raised its value, and if they became cheap, he reduced its value, according to the time, as it was. It reached in the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ between four hundred dinars and eight hundred dinars, and its equivalent in silver eight thousand dirhams. And he ruled that whoever's blood money is upon people of cattle, in cattle it is two hundred cows. And he ruled that whoever's blood money is upon people of sheep, it is two thousand sheep. And he ruled concerning the nose, if it is cut off entirely, the full blood money. And if its tip is cut off, half the blood money. And he ruled concerning the eye, half the blood money: fifty camels, or its equivalent in gold or silver, or one hundred cows, or one thousand sheep. The leg is half the blood money, and the hand is half the blood money. The wound reaching the brain is one third of the blood money: thirty-three camels, or its value in gold, silver, cattle, or sheep. The deep stab wound is one third of the blood money. The bone-displacing wound is fifteen camels. The wound exposing bone is five camels. And teeth are five camels.
