✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ruled concerning a man who stabbed another man with a horn in his leg. He said: O Messenger of Allah, let me have retaliation. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: Do not be hasty until your wound heals. He said: But the man refused except to have retaliation, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ gave him retaliation from him. He said: Then the one seeking retaliation became lame, and the one retaliated against healed. The one seeking retaliation came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: O Messenger of Allah, I have become lame and my companion has healed. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: Did I not command you not to seek retaliation until your wound healed? You disobeyed me. May Allah distance you, and your wound is nullified. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ commanded after the man who became lame that anyone with a wound should not seek retaliation until his wound heals. When his wound has healed, then he may seek retaliation.
