حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي سَمِعْتُ يُونُسَ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ حَمْزَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ

أُتِيتُ وَأَنَا نَائِمٌ بِقَدَحٍ مِنْ لَبَنٍ، فَشَرِبْتُ مِنْهُ حَتَّى جَعَلَ اللَّبَنُ يَخْرُجُ مِنْ أَظْفَارِي، ثُمَّ نَاوَلْتُ فَضْلِي عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، فَمَا أَوَّلْتَهُ ؟ قَالَ: الْعِلْمُ

Translation

✧ I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ saying: "I was given a cup of milk while I was asleep, and I drank from it until the milk started coming out from my fingertips. Then I passed the remaining milk to 'Umar ibn Al-Khattab. He asked, 'O Messenger of Allah, what did you give me?' He said, 'Knowledge.'"
