✧ There will be trials, and then there will be a trial. Surely the one walking in it is better than the one running to it. Surely the one sitting in it is better than the one standing in it. Surely the one lying down in it is better than the one sitting. Surely when it descends, whoever has sheep should stick to his sheep. Surely whoever has land should stick to his land. Surely whoever has camels should stick to his camels. A man from the people said: 'O Prophet of Allah, may Allah make me your ransom, what do you think of one who has no sheep, no land, and no camels — what should he do?' He said: 'Let him take his sword, then go with it to a rock, then strike its edge with a stone, then escape if he can find escape. O Allah, have I conveyed? O Allah, have I conveyed?' Then a man said: 'O Prophet of Allah, may Allah make me your ransom, what do you think if I am seized by force and taken to one of the two ranks, or one of the two parties — Uthman was unsure — and a man strikes me with his sword and kills me? What would be my case?' He said: 'He will bear your sin and his sin, and he will be among the companions of the Fire.'
