✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ saw a gold ring on his finger and began tapping his hand with a stick he had. Then the Prophet ﷺ became distracted from him, so he took off the ring and threw it away. Then the Prophet ﷺ looked and did not see it on his finger, so he said: "I think we have caused you pain and made you incur a loss."

machine translationThis is a mistake. Rather, it is as Yūnus narrated it, from al-Zuhrī, from Abū Idrīs, from a man among the Companions of the Messenger of God ﷺ, from the Prophet ﷺ.
in مسند أحمد, p. 17959 - Dāraquṭnī
machine translationThe reliable memorizers (ḥuffāẓ) among the students of al-Zuhrī narrated it from him, from Abū Idrīs al-Khawlānī, that a man among the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ wore a ring, and this is the correct (ṣaḥīḥ) version.
