✧ He and al-Fadl came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to have him marry them off and employ them over the sadaqah, so that they might gain something from it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "This sadaqah is only the filth of people, and it is not lawful for Muhammad nor for the family of Muhammad." Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to Mahmiyah al-Zubaydi: "Marry off al-Fadl," and he said to Nawfal b. al-Harith b. Abdul-Muttalib: "Marry off Abdul-Muttalib b. Rabi'ah." And he said to Mahmiyah b. Jaz' al-Zubaydi—and the Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to employ him over the khums—so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ordered him to give them as dowry from the khums something which Abdullah b. al-Harith did not name. And at the beginning of this hadith, Ali met them and said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ will not employ you two. They said: This is your envy. He said: I am Abu Hasan of the people, I will not leave until I see what he replies to you. When they spoke to him, he was silent, and Zaynab began waving her garment: He is attending to your need.
