حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ يَزِيدَ عَنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ نَوْفَلٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ قَالَ
أَتَى نَاسٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ، فَقَالُوا: إِنَّا لَنَسْمَعُ مِنْ قَوْمِكَ حَتَّى يَقُولَ الْقَائِلُ مِنْهُمْ: إِنَّمَا مَثَلُ مُحَمَّدٍ مَثَلُ نَخْلَةٍ نَبَتَتْ فِي كِبًا، -قَالَ حُسَيْنٌ: الْكِبَا الْكُنَاسَةُ -. فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: « أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ مَنْ أَنَا؟ » قَالُوا: أَنْتَ رَسُولُ اللهِ [ ﷺ ]، قَالَ: « أَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ » قَالَ: فَمَا سَمِعْنَاهُ قَطُّ يَنْتَمِي قَبْلَهَا، « أَلَا إِنَّ اللهَ [عَزَّ وَجَلَّ] خَلَقَ خَلْقَهُ فَجَعَلَنِي مِنْ خَيْرِ خَلْقِهِ، ثُمَّ فَرَّقَهُمْ فِرْقَتَيْنِ فَجَعَلَنِي مِنْ خَيْرِ الْفِرْقَتَيْنِ، ثُمَّ جَعَلَهُمْ قَبَائِلَ فَجَعَلَنِي مِنْ خَيْرِهِمْ قَبِيلَةً، ثُمَّ جَعَلَهُمْ بُيُوتًا فَجَعَلَنِي مِنْ خَيْرِهِمْ بَيْتًا، وَأَنَا خَيْرُكُمْ بَيْتًا وَخَيْرُكُمْ نَفْسًا

✧ Some people from the Ansar came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: We hear from your people until one of them says: The likeness of Muhammad is only that of a palm tree that grew in a rubbish heap—Husayn said: al-kibā is the sweepings. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "O people, who am I?" They said: You are the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said: "I am Muhammad b. Abdullah b. Abdul-Muttalib." He said: And we never heard him trace his lineage before that. "Indeed, Allah [Mighty and Majestic] created His creation and made me from the best of His creation, then He divided them into two groups and made me in the best group, then He made them tribes and made me in the best tribe, then He made them houses and made me in the best house, so I am the best of you in house and the best of you in self."
