✧ Dhu al-Yadayn met you at Dhu Khashab and told you that the Messenger of God ﷺ prayed with them one of the two evening prayers—which is the afternoon prayer—two rak'ahs, then he said the salam. The swift among the people left, and he said: 'Has the prayer been shortened?' Among the people were Abu Bakr and Umar. Dhu al-Yadayn said: 'Has the prayer been shortened, or did you forget?' He said: 'The prayer has not been shortened, nor did I forget.' Then he turned to Abu Bakr and Umar ؓ and said: 'What does Dhu al-Yadayn say?' They said: 'He has spoken the truth, O Messenger of God.' So the Messenger of God ﷺ returned, and the people came back, and he prayed two rak'ahs with them, then he said the salam, then he prostrated the two prostrations of forgetfulness.
