✧ I agreed with my Lord, Mighty and Majestic, in three things—or my Lord agreed with me in three things. He said: I said: O Messenger of Allah, if only you were to take the Maqam as a place of prayer. He said: Then Allah, Mighty and Majestic, revealed: 'And take the station of Ibrahim as a place of prayer.' And I said: If only you were to veil the mothers of the believers, for the righteous and the wicked enter upon you. Then the verse of the veil was revealed. He said: And something reached me about the mothers of the believers, so I went to them one by one, saying to them: You must stop troubling the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, or Allah will replace you with wives better than you, Muslim women. Until I came to one of the mothers of the believers, and she said: O Umar, is there not in the Messenger of Allah ﷺ enough to admonish his wives that you must admonish them? So I stopped. Then Allah, Mighty and Majestic, revealed: 'It may be that his Lord, if he divorces you, will give him in exchange wives better than you—Muslim, believing, devout.'
