حَدَّثَنَا عَفَّانُ حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ حَدَّثَنِي الْعَلَاءُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي يُحَدِّثُ قَالَ
سَأَلْتُ أَبَا سَعِيدٍ، عَنِ الْإِزَارِ فَقَالَ: عَلَى الْخَبِيرِ سَقَطْتَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: إِزْرَةُ الْمُؤْمِنِ إِلَى نِصْفِ السَّاقِ، وَلَا حَرَجَ أَوْ لَا جُنَاحَ فِيمَا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْكَعْبَيْنِ، مَا كَانَ أَسْفَلَ مِنَ الْكَعْبَيْنِ فَهُوَ فِي النَّارِ، وَمَنْ جَرَّ إِزَارَهُ بَطَرًا لَمْ يَنْظُرِ اللهُ إِلَيْهِ
Translation

✧ I asked Abu Sa'id about the lower garment. He said: You have come to one well informed. The Messenger of God ﷺ said: 'The believer's lower garment reaches to mid-calf, and there is no harm – or no sin – in what is between that and the ankles. Whatever is below the ankles is in the Fire. Whoever drags his lower garment out of arrogance, God will not look at him.'
