حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ عَنْ صَيْفِيٍّ عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ قَالَ

وَجَدَ رَجُلٌ فِي مَنْزِلِهِ حَيَّةً، فَأَخَذَ رُمْحَهُ، فَشَكَّهَا فِيهِ، فَلَمْ تَمُتِ الْحَيَّةُ حَتَّى مَاتَ الرَّجُلُ. فَأُخْبِرَ بِهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ: إِنَّ مَعَكُمْ عَوَامِرَ، فَإِذَا رَأَيْتُمْ مِنْهُمْ شَيْئًا، فَحَرِّجُوا عَلَيْهِ ثَلَاثًا، فَإِنْ رَأَيْتُمُوهُ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ فَاقْتُلُوهُ

Translation

✧ A man found a snake in his dwelling, took his spear, and pierced it. The snake did not die until the man died. The Messenger of God ﷺ was informed of this, and he said: 'Indeed, among you are jinn inhabitants (of houses). If you see any of them, warn it three times. If you see it after that, then kill it.'
