machine translationʿUbaydullāh b. ʿUmar related it, and there is disagreement about him. ʿAbdah b. Sulaymān narrated it from ʿUbaydullāh b. ʿUmar, from al-ʿAlāʾ, from his father, from Abū Saʿīd; al-Ḥasan b. Sahl al-Ḥannāṭ related it from ʿAbdah in this way. ʿAbdullāh b. Numayr differed from him and narrated it from ʿUbaydullāh b. ʿUmar, from Ṣayfī, from Abū Saʿīd al-Khudrī, but Ṣayfī did not hear it from Abū Saʿīd. Ibn ʿUyaynah narrated it from Ibn ʿAjlān and said: from Ṣayfī, the freed slave of Abū al-Sāʾib, from Abū Saʿīd, and that is an error (wahm). The correct version is what Yaḥyā b. Saʿīd al-Qaṭṭān and al-Layth b. Saʿd narrated from Ibn ʿAjlān, from Ṣayfī, from Abū al-Sāʾib, from Abū Saʿīd. Likewise Mālik b. Anas narrated it from Ṣayfī, from Abū al-Sāʾib, from Abū Saʿīd, and that is the correct one.
