حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عِيسَى، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ وَهْبٍ حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ قَالَ: أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ مَعْدِي كَرِبَ:

أَصَابَ رَجُلًا مِنْ بَنِي كِنَانَةَ مَأْمُومَةٌ، فَأَرَادَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ أَنْ يُقِيدَ مِنْهُ، فَقَالَ لَهُ الْعَبَّاسُ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: لَا قَوَدَ فِي مَأْمُومَةٍ وَلَا جَائِفَةٍ وَلَا مُنَقِّلَةٍ، فَأَغْرَمَهُ الْعَقْلَ

✧ A man from Banu Kinanah suffered a head wound reaching the brain membrane, and Umar b. al-Khattab wanted to exact retaliation from the one who struck him. Al-Abbas said to him: 'I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say: "No retaliation for a wound reaching the brain membrane, nor for a penetrating wound to the body cavity, nor for a wound that dislodges a bone." So he made him pay blood money.
