حَدَّثَنَا بِشْرُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ، حَدَّثَنَا قَزَعَةُ، عَنِ الْحَجَّاجِ بْنِ الْحَجَّاجِ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ جُنَادَةَ، عَنْ حَنَشٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ:

كُنَّا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ جُلُوسًا، فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ فَدَخَلَ بِجَذَعٍ مِنَ الْمَعْزِ سَمِينٍ سَيِّدٍ، وَجَذَعٍ مِنَ الضَّأْنِ مَهْزُولٍ خَسِيسٍ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، هَذَا جَذَعٌ مِنَ الضَّأْنِ مَهْزُولٌ خَسِيسٌ، وَهَذَا جَذَعٌ مِنَ الْمَعْزِ سَمِينٌ سَيِّدٌ وَهُوَ خَيْرُهُمَا، أَفَأُضَحِّي بِهِ ؟ قَالَ: ضَحِّ بِهِ، فَإِنَّ لِلهِ الْخَيْرَ

✧ We were sitting with the Messenger of God ﷺ when a man came bringing a young fat, excellent goat and a young emaciated, inferior sheep. He said, 'O Messenger of God, this is a young emaciated, inferior sheep, and this is a young fat, excellent goat, and it is the better of the two. Shall I sacrifice it?' He said, 'Sacrifice it, for to God belongs the good.'
