✧ Gabriel ﷺ came to the Prophet ﷺ on the Day of Sacrifice and said: How do you regard this ritual of ours? He said: The people of heaven boast of it. And know, O Muhammad, that a young sheep is better than the best goat, and know, O Muhammad, that a young sheep is better than the best cow or camel. Had Allah, blessed and exalted, known of anything better than this, He would have ransomed Abraham ﷺ with it.

machine translationWe do not know of anyone who narrated this hadith from Hishām b. Saʿd, from Zayd, from ʿAṭāʾ, from Abū Hurayrah except Isḥāq b. Ibrāhīm al-Ḥunaynī, and no one else corroborated him in this narration. Rather, it occurs among hadiths that he narrated and was not corroborated on, because when he lost his sight and was far from Medina, he went to the frontier region (al-thaghr) and narrated hadiths from the people of Medina, and some of them were rejected (unkira) from him.
