حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَرْعَرَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ، قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ مَعْقِلٍ
أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ وَهْبًا يَخْطُبُ النَّاسَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ، فَقَالَ: احْفَظُوا مِنِّي ثَلَاثًا؛ إِيَّاكُمْ وَهَوًى مُتَّبَعًا، وَقَرِينَ سُوءٍ، وَإِعْجَابَ الْمَرْءِ بِنَفْسِهِ
Translation

✧ He heard Wahb addressing the people from the pulpit, saying: 'Preserve from me three things: beware of a followed desire, an evil companion, and a person's admiration of himself.'
