حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ وَهْبًا يَقُولُ:

إِنَّ لِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ طَرَفَيْنِ وَوَسَطًا، فَإِذَا أُمْسِكَ بِأَحَدِ الطَّرَفَيْنِ مَالَ الْآخَرُ، وَإِذَا أَمْسَكْتَ بِالْوَسَطِ اعْتَدَلَ الطَّرَفَانِ. وَقَالَ: عَلَيْكَ بِالْأَوْسَاطِ مِنَ الْأَشْيَاءِ

Translation

✧ 'Everything has two ends and a middle. If one end is held, the other tilts; if the middle is held, the two ends are balanced.' And he said: 'Keep to the middle of things.'
