حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ النَّرْسِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:

فُقِدَتْ أُمَّةٌ مِنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ لَمْ يُدْرَ مَا فَعَلَتْ، وَلَا أُرَاهَا إِلَّا الْفَأْرَ، أَلَمْ تَرَ أَنَّهَا إِذَا قُرِّبَ إِلَيْهَا أَلْبَانُ الْإِبِلِ لَمْ تَشْرَبْ، وَإِذَا قُرِّبَ إِلَيْهَا أَلْبَانُ الشَّاةِ شَرِبَتْهُ ؟. قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ: فَحَدَّثْتُ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ كَعْبًا، فَقَالَ: أَنْتَ سَمِعْتَ هَذَا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ ؟ فَقَالَ لَهُ: مِرَارًا. فَقَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ: فَنَزَلَتْ عَلَيَّ التَّوْرَاةُ ؟

Translation

✧ A community of the Children of Israel went missing, and it was not known what happened to it. I do not think it is anything but the mouse. Have you not seen that when camel's milk is brought near it, it does not drink, but when sheep's milk is brought near it, it drinks? Abu Hurayra said: I narrated this hadith to Ka'b, and he said: 'Did you hear this from the Messenger of God ﷺ?' He asked him repeatedly. Abu Hurayra said: 'Did the Torah descend upon me?'
