✧ A tribe of the Children of Israel was lost, and he mentioned the mouse. He said: Do you not see that if you bring camel milk near it, it does not approach it, but if you bring sheep milk near it, it drinks it? He said: Did you hear this from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ? He said: Would I recite the Torah?!

machine translationThere is disagreement over whether it is traced back to the Prophet (raised, marfūʿ). Khālid al-Ḥadhdhāʾ, Hishām b. Ḥassān and Ashʿath narrated it as raised, from Ibn Sīrīn, from Abū Hurayrah. There is also disagreement on the authority of Ayyūb: it was narrated from ʿAbd al-Aʿlā b. Ḥammād, from Ḥammād b. Salamah, from Ayyūb, Ḥabīb and Hishām, from Ibn Sīrīn, from Abū Hurayrah as raised (marfūʿ). But al-Ḥasan b. Mūsā narrated it from Ḥammād b. Salamah, from Ḥabīb b. al-Shahīd and Hishām, from Ibn Sīrīn, from Abū Hurayrah as a statement of the Companion (mawqūf).
