✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ was asked about the mouse. He said: A nation among the nations—or he said—it is said that a nation among the nations was lost, so I do not know whether it is that one or not. When camel milk is placed for it, it does not drink it.

machine translationThere is disagreement over whether it is traced back to the Prophet (raised, marfūʿ). Khālid al-Ḥadhdhāʾ, Hishām b. Ḥassān and Ashʿath narrated it as raised, from Ibn Sīrīn, from Abū Hurayrah. There is also disagreement on the authority of Ayyūb: it was narrated from ʿAbd al-Aʿlā b. Ḥammād, from Ḥammād b. Salamah, from Ayyūb, Ḥabīb and Hishām, from Ibn Sīrīn, from Abū Hurayrah as raised (marfūʿ). But al-Ḥasan b. Mūsā narrated it from Ḥammād b. Salamah, from Ḥabīb b. al-Shahīd and Hishām, from Ibn Sīrīn, from Abū Hurayrah as a statement of the Companion (mawqūf).
