حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ أَبِي إِسْرَائِيلَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ عِيَاضٍ، حَدَّثَنِي يَزِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْهَادِ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ:

أُتِيَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِشَارِبٍ، فَقَالَ: اضْرِبُوهُ، فَمِنَّا الضَّارِبُ بِثَوْبِهِ، وَمِنَّا الضَّارِبُ بِنَعْلِهِ. فَقَالَ بَعْضُ الْقَوْمِ: أَخْزَاكَ اللهُ !. فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: لَا تَقُولُوا هَكَذَا، لَا تُعِينُوا الشَّيْطَانَ عَلَيْهِ.

✧ A drinker was brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said: Strike him. Among us were those who struck with their garment, and among us were those who struck with their sandal. Some of the people said: May Allah disgrace you! The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Do not say that; do not help the Shaytan against him.
