حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَيْثَمَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ، عَنْ فِرَاسٍ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ، عَنْ زَاذَانَ
أَنَّ ابْنَ عُمَرَ لَطَمَ غُلَامًا لَهُ، ثُمَّ أَعْتَقَهُ، فَقَالَ: مَا لِي مِنْ أَجْرِهِ هَذِهِ - وَأَخَذَ شَيْئًا مِنَ الْأَرْضِ - سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: مَنْ ضَرَبَ عَبْدَهُ ظَالِمًا، لَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ كَفَّارَةٌ دُونَ عِتْقِهِ
Translation

✧ Ibn Umar slapped a slave of his, then freed him, and said, 'I have no reward from him except this'—and he took some earth—'I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say: Whoever strikes his slave unjustly, there is no expiation for him short of freeing him.'
