حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ أَبِي إِسْرَائِيلَ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، حَدَّثَنَا شُبَيْلُ بْنُ عَزْرَةَ، قَالَ: دَخَلْتُ أَنَا وَقَتَادَةُ عَلَى أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، فَحَدَّثَنَا أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:

مَثَلُ الْجَلِيسِ الصَّالِحِ مَثَلُ الْعَطَّارِ، إِنْ أَصَابَكَ مِنْهُ، وَإِلَّا أَصَابَكَ مِنْ رِيحِهِ، وَمَثَلُ الْجَلِيسِ السَّوْءِ مَثَلُ الْقَيْنِ، إِنْ أَصَابَكَ مِنْهُ، وَإِلَّا أَصَابَكَ مِنْ دُخَانِهِ

✧ The example of a righteous companion is like the example of a perfume seller: if he does not give you some of it, its fragrance will still reach you. And the example of an evil companion is like the example of a blacksmith: if his sparks do not hit you, his smoke will still reach you.
