Companionship and socializing

أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْجَبَّارِ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ بُرَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ عَنْ أَبِي مُوسَى قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ﷺ

«مَثَلُ الْجَلِيسِ الصَّالِحِ مَثَلُ الْعَطَّارِ إِنْ لَمْ يُصِبْكَ مِنْهُ أَصَابَكَ رِيحُهُ وَمَثَلُ الْجَلِيسِ السُّوءِ مَثَلُ الْقَيْنِ إِنْ لَمْ يُحْرِقْكَ بِشَرَرِهِ عَلِقَ بِكَ مِنْ رِيحِهِ»

✧ "The example of a good companion is that of a perfume seller: even if you do not get any from him, his fragrance reaches you. And the example of a bad companion is that of a blacksmith: even if his sparks do not burn you, some of his smell clings to you."
