✧ Humayd al-Tawil from Anas b. Malik

حَدَّثَنَا وَهْبٌ، أَخْبَرَنَا خَالِدٌ، عَنْ حُمَيْدٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ:

نُودِيَ بِالصَّلَاةِ، فَقَامَ مَنْ كَانَ مَنْزِلُهُ قَرِيبَ الْمَسْجِدِ فَتَوَضَّأَ، وَبَقِيَ مَنْ كَانَ نَائِيًا عَنِ الْمَسْجِدِ، وَأَتَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ بِمِخْضَبٍ فِيهِ مَاءٌ، فَضَمَّ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَصَابِعَهُ فِيهِ مِنْ ضِيقِهِ، فَتَوَضَّأَ مِنْهُ الْقَوْمُ، قَالَ: وَهُمْ زُهَاءُ ثَمَانِينَ رَجُلًا

Translation

✧ The call to prayer was given. Those whose houses were near the mosque rose and performed ablution, while those who lived far from the mosque remained. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was brought a stone basin containing water. The Prophet ﷺ pressed his fingers together in it because of its narrowness, and the people performed ablution from it. He said: and they were about eighty men.
