✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came out angry and addressed the people, saying: "Do not ask me about anything today except that I will inform you of it." We thought that Jibril was with him. A man stood up to him and said: "O Messenger of Allah, we have only recently come from ignorance. Who is my father?" He said: "Your father is Hudhafah," referring to the father to whom he was attributed. Then he asked him about other things. Then 'Umar b. al-Khattab stood up to him and said: "O Messenger of Allah, we have only recently come from ignorance, so do not expose our faults to us." He said: "Will you disgrace us with our secrets? Pardon us, may Allah pardon you. We are pleased with Allah as Lord, with Islam as religion, and with Muhammad as Messenger." He said: "Then he was relieved. Then he looked and said: 'I have never seen a day like today in good and evil. Paradise and the Fire were shown to me, just beyond the wall. I have never seen more veiled faces than on that day.'"
