حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمُؤْمِنِ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي سَارَةَ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ:
إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ لَيُشْرِفُ عَلَى أَهْلِ النَّارِ فَيُنَادِيهِ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ النَّارِ: يَا فُلَانُ، أَمَا تَعْرِفُنِي ؟ قَالَ: لَا، وَاللهِ مَا أَعْرِفُكَ، مَنْ أَنْتَ وَيْحَكَ ؟ قَالَ: أَنَا الَّذِي مَرَرْتَ بِي فِي الدُّنْيَا فَاسْتَسْقَيْتَنِي شَرْبَةَ مَاءٍ فَسَقَيْتُكَ، فَاشْفَعْ لِي بِهَا عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ، قَالَ: فَدَخَلَ ذَلِكَ الرَّجُلُ عَلَى اللهِ فِي زَوْرِهِ، فَقَالَ: يَا رَبِّ، إِنِّي أَشْرَفْتُ عَلَى أَهْلِ النَّارِ فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ النَّارِ فَنَادَى: يَا فُلَانُ، أَمَا تَعْرِفُنِي ؟ فَقُلْتُ: لَا، وَاللهِ مَا أَعْرِفُكَ، وَمَنْ أَنْتَ ؟ قَالَ: أَنَا الَّذِي مَرَرْتَ بِي فِي الدُّنْيَا فَاسْتَسْقَيْتَنِي فَسَقَيْتُكَ، فَاشْفَعْ لِي بِهَا عِنْدَ رَبِّكَ، يَا رَبِّ، فَشَفِّعْنِي فِيهِ، قَالَ: فَيُشَفِّعُهُ اللهُ فِيهِ، وَأَخْرَجَهُ مِنَ النَّارِ
Translation

✧ A man from the people of Paradise will look down upon the people of the Fire, and a man from the people of the Fire will call to him: 'O so-and-so, do you not recognize me?' He will say: 'No, by Allah, I do not recognize you. Who are you, woe to you?' He will say: 'I am the one you passed by in the world and asked me for a drink of water, and I gave you a drink, so intercede for me with your Lord because of it.' He said: That man will enter upon Allah in his visit and say: 'O Lord, I looked down upon the people of the Fire, and a man from the people of the Fire stood up and called: "O so-and-so, do you not recognize me?" I said: "No, by Allah, I do not recognize you, and who are you?" He said: "I am the one you passed by in the world and asked me for a drink, and I gave you a drink, so intercede for me with your Lord." O Lord, let me intercede for him.' He said: Allah will grant him intercession for him and will bring him out of the Fire.
