✧ I met ʿItbān after that, and he narrated to me and it pleased me, so I said to my son, 'Write it down,' and he wrote it. ʿItbān, whose sight had gone, said: I said, 'O Prophet of God, if you would come to me and pray in my house in a place I would adopt as a prayer area.' He said: The Messenger of God ﷺ came and began praying while his companions were talking among themselves. He said: We mentioned what they were encountering from the hypocrites in the way of harm, and they made the greatest part of that to be upon Mālik b. Dukhshum. It pleased them that they would induce the Prophet ﷺ to supplicate against him and that God would destroy him. They said, 'O Prophet of God, his affair is such-and-such.' The Prophet ﷺ said, 'Does he not testify that there is no god but God and that I am the Messenger of God?' They said, 'He only says that with his tongue, and there is no form of it in his heart.' The Prophet of God ﷺ said, 'No one testifies that there is no god but God and that I am the Messenger of God but that God will admit him—or he said: but that it will feed him—the Fire forever.'
