حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ شَقِيقٍ الْجَرْمِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرٌ، عَنْ ثَابِتٍ - قَالَ: أَحْسِبُهُ - عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ:
دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى رَجُلٍ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ يَعُودُهُ، فَوَافَقَهُ وَهُوَ فِي الْمَوْتِ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِ فَقَالَ: كَيْفَ تَجِدُكَ يَا فُلَانُ ؟ قَالَ: بِخَيْرٍ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، أَرْجُو اللهَ وَأَخَافُ ذُنُوبِي، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: لَمْ يَجْتَمِعَا فِي قَلْبِ رَجُلٍ عِنْدَ هَذَا الْمَوْطِنِ إِلَّا أَعْطَاهُ اللهُ مَا رَجَاهُ، وَآمَنَهُ مِمَّا خَافَ

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ entered upon a man of the Anṣār to visit him, and found him at the point of death. He greeted him and said: “How do you find yourself, O so-and-so?” He said: “Well, O Messenger of Allah. I hope in Allah and fear my sins.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “They do not come together in the heart of a man at this moment except that Allah gives him what he hopes for and grants him safety from what he fears.”
