✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ left the slain of Badr for three days, then he came to them, stood over them, and called them, saying: 'O Abu Jahl b. Hisham, O Umayya b. Khalaf, O ʿUtba b. Rabiʿa, O Shayba b. Rabiʿa, have you found what your Lord promised you to be true? For I have found what my Lord promised me to be true.' ʿUmar heard the words of the Prophet ﷺ and said: 'O Messenger of God, how can they hear, and how can they answer when they have become bloated corpses?' He said: 'By the One in whose hand is my soul, you are not more able to hear what I say than they are, except that they cannot answer.' Then he ordered concerning them and they were dragged to the well of Badr.
