✧ While the Messenger of God ﷺ was prostrating and around him were people from Quraysh, ʿUqbah b. Abī Muʿayṭ came with the placenta of a slaughtered camel and threw it onto the back of the Messenger of God ﷺ, and he did not lift his head. Then Fāṭimah came and removed it from his back, and she supplicated against the one who had done that. He said: “He said: ‘O God, against you are the chiefs of Quraysh: Abū Jahl b. Hishām, ʿUtbah b. Rabīʿah, Shaybah b. Rabīʿah, ʿUqbah b. Abī Muʿayṭ, and Umayyah b. Khalaf—or Ubayy b. Khalaf; Shuʿbah was the one uncertain.’” He said: “I saw them killed on the day of Badr, and they were thrown into a well, except that Umayyah or Ubayy had his limbs cut apart, so he was not thrown into the well.”
