✧ I said to Anas: 'Tell me something of these wonders that no one but you narrates.' He said: 'The Messenger of God ﷺ prayed one day the noon prayer in Madinah, then he came to the seats where Jibril used to come to him, and he sat on them. Bilal came and called the afternoon prayer, so those who had families in Madinah got up to perform ablution and attend to their needs. Some men of the Emigrants remained who had no families in Madinah. The Messenger of God ﷺ was brought a vessel – meaning a wide shallow bowl with water in it – and he placed his fingers in the vessel, but it did not accommodate all his fingers, so he placed these four. Then he said: "Come and perform ablution." So they all performed ablution. I said to Anas: "How many do you think they were?" He said: "Between seventy and eighty."
