حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ، حَدَّثَنَا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ، حَدَّثَنِي شُعْبَةُ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ قَتَادَةَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ، يَقُولُ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ - فَلَا أَدْرِي أَشَيْءٌ أُنْزِلَ عَلَيْهِ أَمْ كَانَ يَقُولُهُ -:
لَوْ كَانَ لِابْنِ آدَمَ وَادِيَانِ مِنْ مَالٍ لَتَمَنَّى - أَوْ: لَابْتَغَى - وَادِيًا ثَالِثًا، وَلَا يَمْلَأُ جَوْفَ ابْنِ آدَمَ إِلَّا التُّرَابُ، وَيَتُوبُ اللهُ عَلَى مَنْ تَابَ

✧ If the son of Adam had two valleys of wealth, he would wish for—or: seek—a third valley, and nothing fills the belly of the son of Adam except dust, and Allah turns in forgiveness to whoever repents.
