حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا سَعِيدٌ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ لَمَّا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَكْتُبَ إِلَى الْأَعَاجِمِ، قِيلَ لَهُ: إِنَّهُمْ لَا يَقْبَلُونَ كِتَابًا إِلَّا بِخَاتَمٍ، قَالَ: فَاتَّخَذَ خَاتَمًا فَنَقَشَ فِيهِ: مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللهِ

Translation

✧ When the Messenger of God ﷺ wanted to write to the non-Arabs, it was said to him: They will not accept a letter unless it has a seal. He said: So he adopted a seal and engraved on it: Muhammad, Messenger of God.
