حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ، حَدَّثَنَا شَبَابَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ:
لَمَّا أَرَادَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَنْ يَكْتُبَ إِلَى الرُّومِ، قِيلَ لَهُ: إِنَّهُمْ لَنْ يَقْرَءُوا كِتَابًا إِذَا لَمْ يَكُنْ مَخْتُومًا، فَاتَّخَذَ خَاتَمًا مِنْ فِضَّةٍ، وَنَقْشُهُ: مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ اللهِ، قَالَ أَنَسٌ: فَكَأَنَّمَا أَنْظُرُ إِلَى بَيَاضِهِ بِيَدِهِ
Translation

✧ When the Prophet ﷺ wanted to write to the Romans, it was said to him: They will not read a letter unless it is sealed. So he took a ring of silver, with the inscription: Muhammad, Messenger of Allah. Anas said: It is as if I am looking at its whiteness on his hand.
