✧ Prayer for the Guard

أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَامِرِ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ أَنَّ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ

سَهِرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مَقْدِمَهُ الْمَدِينَةَ لَيْلَةً قَالَ «لَيْتَ رَجُلًا صَالِحًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِي يَحْرُسُنِي اللَّيْلَةَ» قَالَ «فَبَيْنَا نَحْنُ كَذَلِكَ إِذْ سَمِعْنَا خَشْخَشَةَ سِلَاحٍ» فَقَالَ «مَنْ هَذَا؟» قَالَ سَعْدُ بْنُ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «مَا جَاءَ بِكَ؟» قَالَ سَعْدٌ «وَقَعَ فِي نَفْسِي خَوْفٌ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَجِئْتُ أَحْرُسُهُ فَدَعَا لَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ ثُمَّ نَامَ»

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ stayed awake one night upon his arrival in Madinah and said: “Would that a righteous man from my companions would guard me tonight.” He said: “While we were like that, we heard the clatter of weapons.” He said: “Who is this?” He said: “Sa'd b. Abi Waqqas.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said to him: “What has brought you?” Sa'd said: “Fear for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ fell into my heart, so I came to guard him.” Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prayed for him and slept.
