✧ When Najda al-Haruri came out during the strife of Ibn al-Zubayr, he sent to Ibn 'Abbas asking him about the share of the near relatives: for whom does he see it? He said: 'It is for the relatives of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ; the Messenger of Allah ﷺ apportioned it to them. 'Umar had offered us something of it that we considered less than our right, so we returned it to him and refused to accept it. That which he offered them was to help their one who wanted to marry, to pay the debt of their debtor, and to give to their poor; and he refused to increase them beyond that.'
