حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، سَمِعَ أَبَا عُبَيْدٍ - يَعْنِي مَوْلَى ابْنِ أَزْهَرَ - قَالَ:

شَهِدْتُ الْعِيدَ مَعَ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ، فَبَدَأَ بِالصَّلَاةِ قَبْلَ الْخُطْبَةِ وَقَالَ: إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ نَهَى عَنْ صِيَامِ هَذَيْنِ الْيَوْمَيْنِ: أَمَّا يَوْمُ الْفِطْرِ فَفِطْرُكُمْ مِنْ صِيَامِكُمْ، وَأَمَّا الْأَضْحَى فَكُلُوا مِنْ لَحْمِ نُسُكِكُمْ

✧ I attended the Eid prayer with Umar b. al-Khattab, and he began with the prayer before the sermon and said: The Messenger of God ﷺ forbade fasting on these two days: as for the day of breaking fast, it is your breaking fast from your fasting, and as for the day of sacrifice, eat from the meat of your sacrifices.
