✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ said to me, “If the wealth of Bahrain comes, I will give you this much and this much and this much.” Sufyan gestured with his hand, showing us three scoops toward his head. The wealth of Bahrain did not arrive until the Messenger of God ﷺ passed away. When the wealth of Bahrain arrived, Abu Bakr stood and said, “Whoever has a promise or a debt owed by the Messenger of God ﷺ, let him come.” Jabir said, “I went to him and said, ‘The Prophet ﷺ promised me.’” He said, “So he gave me. Then I came to him afterward asking him, but he did not give me. Then I came to him a third time and said, ‘I asked you and you did not give me, and I asked again and you did not give me. Either give me, or be stingy with me.’ He said, ‘What disease is worse than stinginess! I did not withhold from you any time except while I intended to give you.’”
