حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ، سَمِعَ مِنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ قَالَ:
مَرِضْتُ فَأَتَانِي النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَأَبُو بَكْرٍ وَهُمَا يَمْشِيَانِ فَوَجَدَانِي قَدْ غُشِيَ عَلَيَّ، فَتَوَضَّأَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَصَبَّ عَلَيَّ وَضُوءَهُ، فَأَفَقْتُ، فَسَأَلْتُهُ، فَقُلْتُ: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ، كَيْفَ أَصْنَعُ فِي مَالِي ؟ فَلَمْ يُجِبْنِي، حَتَّى نَزَلَتْ آيَةُ الْمِيرَاثِ، يَعْنِي قَوْلَهُ: يُوصِيكُمُ اللهُ فِي أَوْلادِكُمْ.

✧ I fell ill, and the Prophet ﷺ and Abu Bakr came to me, walking. They found me unconscious, so the Messenger of God ﷺ performed ablution and poured his ablution water over me, and I regained consciousness. I asked him, “O Messenger of God, what should I do with my wealth?” He did not answer me until the verse of inheritance was revealed—meaning His saying: “God instructs you concerning your children.”
